Mark Potts - Deputy Sheriff - LEAP Member - November 30, 2012
Mark Potts started his career of service to his Country and neighbors early on in life.
Joining the military right out of High School, he did two hitches in the Marine Corp, one hitch in the Air Force and retired from the Army Special Forces.
Mark joined the Trinity County Sheriffs office in 2000.
With a gap between 2004, to 2007 he has ten years in with the Sheriff's department.
Mark has been a political figure having run for the position of Sheriff in 2010.
As a community leader, Mark writes opinion articles to the Trinity Journal, the local Trinity newspaper on matters of public importance.
Although this was done on his personal time, and not from any County owned equipment or time, it led to a court case when the man who won the race for Sheriff in 2010, Bruce Haney tried to censure and reprimand the watchman on the wall, Mark Potts.
Knowing his rights and what is required of a true Patriot, Mark sued not for money but an injunction and restoration of his 1st amendment rights and prevailed in Federal Court.
Without any evidence to prove that his opinions were in any way keeping him from performing his duties, other than positive work performance reports, the claim that it was conduct unbecoming an officer was also soundly refuted.
The hosts of this show have lamented the fact the most Law Enforcement Against Prohibition members are retired because active duty officers are punished for speaking out, so it is a pleasure to have an active duty member of L.E.A.P. we can support on Cannabis Nation Radio.
Courage is uncommon, especially when it is revealed in the service of others.
